Painted entirely from life this is
how the set up for this oil painting was made:
πͺΎ The branch with yellow-orange lichen is one of the main elements of the installation. After a long search in different locations I settled on this particular branch, covered with lichen called Xantoria parietina.
π―οΈ The candles are entirely handmade. The aim is for their color to match the color of the lichen. To achieve this I repeatedly melted different colored wax until the right shade was achieved. The resulting candles are carefully cut, shaped, and melted on the branch.
πΈοΈ The spider’s web was created using a silicone gun. It was lightly sprayed with water so that tiny droplets would cling to the delicate strands, creating subtle reflections and details that were faithfully interpreted in the painting.
πβπ« The mushrooms were specially sculpted for this composition by another artist using plasticine, while the robin featured in the installation is a genuine taxidermy specimen.
πΈ This painting is created on a solid copper plate, which is securely mounted onto a Dibond panel for additional stability and durability
πΌοΈ Designed by the artist, the frame is handmade from wood, specially created for the painting. The wood is prepared with red bole before being gilded, then aged and patinated. The patina is mixed in a specific warm shade to harmonize with the orange tones of the painting.
ποΈ To create a strong bond between the base and the paint, the first coat of paint contains lead white. The painting was started in late 2024 and completed in April 2026
